It's been a long few days, to say the least.
I'm pleased to announce that for the next week, A Good Old-Fashioned Rebound will be available for 99 cents. It seems the "free promotional days" from Kindle Select work best when you have a couple of titles to your name, so instead of using those up on one book, I'm dropping the price in an effort to boost sales.
In the next few days, I'm going to be strengthening my social presence (starting...gasp!...a Facebook page) and generally establishing myself as a presence rather than just a name with a book. I've also got a novella and a second novel in process, both of which will see publication before the end of the year.
From there, we'll see what happens.
Mostly I'm just happy the thing is finally up! This book has been a long time in coming (a year and a half, at least) so to really see it up there and in the hands of readers is very exciting and rewarding.
Oh, and terrifying.
Utterly terrifying.
It's the wine bottle for me tonight!

It's up!
Well...it's up.
A Good Old-Fashioned Rebound is available on Amazon.com for $2.99. I sent it in on Sunday, and much to my surprise, it went up almost immediately.
Now it's up and I'm not quite sure what to do.
I should probably be promoting it. Doing blog tours or getting aggressive on Twitter or something. But I've had a couple of big projects to deal with so promotion has been the last thing on my mind.
In the next couple of days you'll see more from me, I'm sure. :)

In which I have things to report
I guess I'm not very good at posting on this thing, am I?
Big Book is done. It's formatted. I am actually taking a break from flipping through the Kindle Previewer to post this. So far, so good; everything looks marvelous. Assuming the formatting holds up throughout, all I really have to do is create a plot description and then put it on sale.
It's scary.
Descriptions have never been my strong point, either, so I'm sure that's going to take another day of anguish.
With any luck, the whole shebang will be up in the next couple of days.

Identity Crisis
I feel a little bad for my novella right now.
First it got pushed to the side while I made revisions on the Big Book. Then I had the clever idea to switch it to third person. Five thousand words later, I realized first-person really suited the tone of the story better and switched back to that format. Now I'm digging through the middle segment, painstakingly replacing she, her, and they with I, my, and we.
It's a pain in the ass.
Why'd I decide to change it in the first place? Variety. Big Book is written in first-person, and I didn't want to start off as a one-trick pony...but first-person fits this novella, and while third-person might be a little easier for me (it gives me a little distance from the story), I was doing myself and the work a disservice by trying to force it into that medium.
It's also got a little bit of an identity problem going on. It's romantic, yes, but it has more of an adventurous bent to it than some romantic novellas I've seen. I tend to write my romantic scenes in one sitting and my adventure scenes in another (mostly because they require entirely different moods and music), so the thing is a little uneven at the moment. I'm planning to finish plugging the gaps tomorrow, after which I will print out the manuscript, let it sit for a week, and then it will be revision time.
Always a pleasure.
So I guess it's back on track. The immediate plan is to release both books on Kindle only and see if I can make the Amazon Select system to work for me. I'll be posting here what does and doesn't work.
Stay tuned!

This place is a bit dusty, eh?
Good morning, world!
Oh, wait, that's the Wordpress salutation.
I went with Blogger for a couple of reasons: one, it's a touch more convenient for me, and two, I didn't particularly feel like creating an entire website just yet. Makes more sense to just start small and grow if I need to.
Might still fiddle with the template on this thing. I think the one I've got installed is fairly inoffensive, though it's boring.
Anyway. Hello! I'm Kate Bellamy. I like tea, gadgets, and a good dose of romance. And this...shall be my blog.
